Drawing on my knowledge of teaching primary school age children, I familiarised myself with the learning objectives of KS2 Latin, then designed the appearances and personalities of the characters to engage the target audience and deliver the learning in a fun and informative manner. I decided to make the central character, Philippus, mixed race to try to make learning Latin more inclusive than it has been historically. I gathered references about acting troupes traveling around Italy in the early 1st century BC to ensure accuracy and consistency in my illustrations.
